My mother has had a Cato Credit card for as long as I can remember - her name is Verla Fore- She will only shop in these stores- she is 78yrs old- This past week- she went into your store in Mayberry Mall- Mount Airy, N.C. 27030- She made a cash payment on her card and it was accepted- when she showed the clerk what she wanted to purchase on her card - she was told that she needed an ID. Well I'm here to tell you here is a lady that don't drive and don't understand all new procedures, but has shopped in the same store since it was on Main Street in Mt. Airy,N.C. - I understand policies,but your store just lost a faithfull consumer- She has (2) daughters- (6) granddaughters - (2) greatgranddaughtes- One of the Clerks on duty that day told that she knew here - So with that said- Cato's has lost a good customer- and a very unhappy person- You need to tell your people the have a little compasion for their older customers- they don't understand all of the new way of doing business- she is heart broken and disappointed- Her card had been replaced eariler- but I can tell you if you take money for a credit card payment- then you should be willing to let the person use their card- I deal with marketing in the appearl busniess and I know just how important a good customer base is.
